Georgetown
Georgetown is a conservative little town 30 minutes north of Austin. There is an excellent trail system and a cool place to swim in the river if we have had rain recently. There is a decent record store and a coffee shop. The neighborhoods around campus are bike friendly. Besides that, it is just a town full of old people.

Fine Arts
A fine arts education at Southwestern will instill the discipline and knowledge of the art world that you need to be successful, IF you put in 100%. It is not uncommon for students to be working in the studios until 4 in the morning. Even students who are taking the class as an elective and have no background in art sometimes produce pretty impressive work due to the professor's guidance and advice. If you are working towards a B.F.A, the required art history classes are enlightening and interesting. I love this school because it is easy to receive individual attention, which is so useful when studying art. I can't imagine going to that big school down the highway and being one of 300 art students.
