Professors Are Hired to Teach, Not Research
The professors at Grinnell are there because they love to teach, not just for research. Courses are taught by the professors, and TAs are there for extra help and additional review sessions. Although the focus is teaching, professors do have research projects and labs, and take students to work with them for summers and both semesters. A research project is required for the Chemistry major, and there is a strong summer research program at Grinnell. In general, courses are demanding, and labs are long, but you will learn the skills and content necessary to be successful in a research/internship setting, to enter industry, and/or graduate programs.

Need Is Met, Mostly.
Grinnell is more generous than many other schools when calculating need, but as with most college financial aid programs, it often isn't really enough. Grinnell does have a $2,000 suggested loan cap and there are plenty of work-study jobs on campus. Merit scholarships generally increase the same percentage of tuition annually as well.
