Great four season climate
Weather in Richmond is generally nice during the school year. It can be hot and muggy the first month, but after that, the rest of fall term is great with temps ranging from 55-75. The city enjoys a nice four season climate, with few extremes. Fall is beautiful around campus with the peak of color occurring in early November. Winter temps range from 45-55 for highs. While some snow can fall, it usually only lasts long enough for a little outdoor fun and then it melts. Spring comes early to Richmond with 65-75 in April, with everything green and flowers in bloom. We get our share of storms coming through, (had a hurricane in 2011), but get ample sunshine as well. Spring can be brutal for allergy sufferers. As most of students here come from northern states, people generally find the weather in Richmond to be warmer and nicer than what they left behind in their home town. It’s not Florida, but to most, it’s a great weather destination for college.

D-Hall delivers
While some over-privileged students like to complain, the truth be told, the quality and food selection in D-Hall are actually decent. I’m an eyewitness to the food set-up at a lot of similar size schools that my friends attend, and some are downright scary. While there are D-Hall entrees that are definitely avoided, the variety and consistency of the food is generally good. The international & dietary challenged students, (you know who you are), sometimes groan, but they eventually find something to eat. Granted, there’s monotony and an institutional quality to D-Hall after a time, but most students seem to make due. It’s never going to be home cooking or the Sunday brunch at the Jefferson Hotel. Most students blow campus from time to time and hit a nearby restaurant when they need a change of scenery. It is fun to listen to parents and visitors in D-Hall fawn over the luxurious surroundings and food choices versus the slop they ate in their college cafeteria back in the 1970’s.

Underrated and outstanding!
Facilities are outstanding. The school's got a healthy endowment and they've really spread the wealth around campus with new construction projects, updates to existing buildings and great attention to outdoor landscaping. Academic and administrative buildings are modern and well maintained. Same goes for the library, student center, dining hall, theater and all sports and recreational facilities. Dorms, as expected, receive the least amount of resources, although are pretty well maintained and clean. The weakest link on campus might be the UFA (University Forest Apartments) that are starting to show some age inside and out. The apartments also lack the style of the Gothic grandeur construction found elsewhere on campus, and sort of stand apart from the rest of the campus beauty.
All in all, however, great facilities at UR, housed in buildings with a lot of old world charm.
