Are there parties every weekend? How are they?

There is always parties going on every weekend at the U. I would say they are all pretty fun to go to.

I have only heard of a couple parties all semester and have never been to one. My own parties are better!

For the most part yes, and they are usually pretty fun!

Yes, particularly fraternity parties. They're wild, convivial and entertaining.

How is the winter inversion in Salt Lake City?

I live in salt lake, and during the winter inversion the place doesn't look all that great, it's just super cloudy and polluted, if you do heavy exercise maybe it can agitate your throat a little bit, but nothing serious enough to deter you from considering living in the area, it clears up after a couple weeks.

Last year the inversion was ok, but this recent winter the inversion has been extremely intense. You should not go outside running on particular bad days.

The winter inversion is awful. The inversion alone is almost enough to make me move out of state.

The inversion in Salt Lake City can vary year to year. However, the inversion is always the worst at the Wasatch Front. The majority of the population lives by the Wasatch Front causing the inversion to be bad.

What dorm is the best?

The Marriott Honor dorms are the best ones but they're a bit pricy and to be live in them you have to be an honor's student. Each room comes with a very nice kitchen fully decked out (fridge, microwave, stove, oven) and the bathrooms are split between two people. The lights in the bathrooms and bedrooms are motion-sensitive (not relevant, just a cool fact). These dorms are brand new as of 2012-2013 school year. I love living in them

I personally like the Honors dorms. It's located on upper campus and is easily accessible.

The Marriott Honors Community is the newest one of the residence halls on campus. I would also recommend Sage Point!

The best freshman dorms are in Sage Point, then there's the new honors building, but best are the Shoreline apartments for upperclassmen.

freshies are in chapel glen, sage point is more of a everybody grade thing. go for chapel glen man, girls are sexy as well there

For sure thanks

How are the parties at Utah with the Mormon influence?

the mormons go to BYU,,, the less religious but still conservative go to Utah,,,, more of a mix between mormons and christians, catholics, etc

I have not attended many parties out here but the ones that I have attended were very fun. Not everyone is Mormon so they do not have to exactly follow the Mormon tradition.

Despite over half of the state of Utah being Mormon, Salt Lake City is notably less so. The U is not known as a party school, but there is definitely more partying here than at BYU, or other schools in Utah.

The parties can get pretty crazy, since the student population that does not consider themselves as Mormon, make a point to prove it.

thanks for the help

the best i love them specially because you do not have to drink alchool of any kind and they have good morals and high standars. The most of them anyway.

Parties are still all over the place! The state law preventing any beer higher than 3.2% is a bit of a downer, but there are still normal non-mormon parties to be found everywhere.

Oh that is kind of a bummer. Thanks for the info.

It depends on what type of party you go to, but I can assure you that there are parties at the U that are like parties on any other campus. It just depends on the type of people you hang out with.

University of Utah is much like any other college - I am a transfer student and don't notice it at all. People here seem to be a bit more polite than elsewhere but that's about it. Kids still go out and get stupid on the weekends.

Still go pretty hard... You can find some crazy ass ragers here
