How is the school viewed outside of LA? If I wasn't going to say in LA after graduating, is the school still viewed well somewhere like NYC?

if you're looking for a "name" lmu is not the place, even people in california may have never heard of it

It works fine for getting into grad schools pretty much everywhere if you get good grades but, in industry, it's more well known in Southern California. Its recognition even sputters in Northern California.

Those of you that were accepted, how many AP courses did you take in high school? Is 4 a good amount?

By the end of senior year I will have completed 10, but I know people who have been accepted with less. My friend, who got into CFA with a huge scholarship, took her first and only AP course this year.

I took only 2 but I took SUPA classes as well and honors classes

I didn't take any AP classes and i got in so 4 sounds safe :)

Those who were accepted: how many AP courses did you take in high school? I plan on completing 4 by the time i graduate. Is this a good amount or should I go for more?

I took 5 with a 3.7 gpa and 2060 SAT score

I took 2 last year and 4 this year.

i only took 2

Thanks, may i ask what your GPA & SAT were?

3.3 and 1760

I only took 2 (senior year) as well with a 3.3 and 1550 on my SAT

I took 0 AP courses, had a 3.1 GPA, and a 25 on my ACT. But I had a lot of service hours, so it is safe to say LMU looks at your application as a whole, not just your GPA and classes you take in high school.

Okay awesome that's good to hear!

Does the School of Film & TV require an SAT Subject test from its applicants? It says that on the admissions statistics on HERE but I can't seem to find that info anywhere else.

I'm not sure if they require it, I took a French subject test and I was early accepted into the Film&TV school

Okay thank you...I'll try to find out by e-mailing them

Btw may I ask what your GPA & SAT scores were for your application? :)

No, I didn't take any subject tests and I was accepted into the film program! My gpa is 4.0 and SAT was 1850! I think my essays and recommendations were my saving grace.

Okay thank you so much!

What is it like on weekends if you don't have a car?

Still good. Your friends that have cars will always help you get around. Plus, you already have everything you need right there with the mall and marina down the street.

Parties take place in the local neighborhood, also small parties are in on campus apartments. If you have a bike you can easily get to the Venice and Santa Monica, I suggest that. It's a very scenic bike ride.

Does the majority of students party? What if I do not like alcohol or partying?

Is it even worth trying to apply out of state?

If you'd really like to attend there, and have a good chance, then definitely.

It depends on how you stack up. You have to be pretty stellar in order to get accepted OOS.

Is there a survey to match you with roommates?

The housing survey is general and doesn't ask any personal questions aside from a comments section for special accommodations. The housing survey just asks you to rank where you want to live and allows you to request a roommate.

Is it better to take Statistics I & II or AP Calculus my senior year if I plan to major in film at NYU? Math is not my strong point (B's).

If you are in film you will probably be in tisch or gallatin meaning you wont have a math requirement so take the one you will do better in to have the highest possible gpa. Statistics is easier for most people but you know your strengths best. both stat and calc are aps so it looks good either way.

Okay thank you! I wasn't sure about the math requirement...do you know if it is like that for film majors at most schools?

i'm a freshman at nyu so thats why i know about nyu but idk for sure about other schools most likely they wouldn't have a requirement if they have a separate acting/arts school but if for some reason it is in the college of arts and sciences then you would have requirements

I heard if you are looking into the medical field, Statistics is a must :)

Okay thanks!

Community or private dorm bathrooms in Warren Towers? I thought they were communal but I just saw a chart showing that there were private bathrooms. Is it for a different dorm building?

communal

How is the financial aid situation compared to NYU? I'm really interested in both but stories of people graduating NYU with $240,000 in loans is becoming intimidating...

They're really good about financial aid and you can always apply for scholarships through the school if you need more!

Okay that's great to hear...thanks!
