Facilities at Texas A&M University

A-

Not Too Shabby

All the facilities are pretty nice. There aren't too many that are run down or really old. And if they are there's probably a good chance they're being renovated anyway. There is a lot of construction going on right now which is rather unsightly and inconvenient.

Can Be Hard to Get

Got into 4 colleges including A&M and all except A&M offered me at least some form of financial aid. Had to wait til after freshman year to get a scholarship

Athletics at Texas A&M University

A+

There's Nothing Bigger

Ok maybe our football team hasn't been the most competitive recently but we are well rounded in other sports. Our men and women's track team has won the national championship 3 years in a row. Our women's basketball team won the national championship last year. The sports are a pleasure to watch and get plenty of support and each sport has its own unique traditions to go along with it.

Campus Strictness at Texas A&M University

B+

Good Luck Parking

The only thing I ever hear of people getting in trouble for is parking. If you park illegally they will catch you and cite you. Parking close to class can be hectic so utilize the bus system. It seems to run pretty well

Majors at Texas A&M University

A

What Doesn't a&M Offer

You can pretty much find any major here. I'm a meteorology major and that's something that not all colleges have. Compared nationally it is one of the top programs.

Drug Safety at Texas A&M University

A

Just Go Off Campus

Drinking is huge but not very visible on campus. That mainly stays off campus. Pot is really the only other major thing and really it just depends on who you hang out with. Some people see it every day and others can go months without seeing pot use. Other drugs really aren't all that common.

Transportation at Texas A&M University

A

Take the Bus

Plenty of buses to choose from. I love the off campus buses. They save a lot of money on gas and come by every ten minutes in most cases. On campus routes aren't bad but can be extremely crowded.

Weather at Texas A&M University

A

Three and a Half Season

Very hot at the beginning of the fall semester but once it starts to cool off it's very nice. Sunny a lot of the time. Can start to get cool in December and January. There really isn't a winter. The only time there is a winter is when a cold front comes through and knocks the temperature down for a couple of days but it usually rebounds nicely. It can be very windy at times. Spring is and it doesn't get too hot in May.

Parking at Texas A&M University

B

Really not that bad

Parking has an undeserved reputation I think. You're guaranteed a spot at Reed Arena and there are buses that will take you to places on campus and the main part of campus. I think parking at other colleges is way worse. Particularly any college in a decent sized city. There's always a parking spot on campus somewhere it just might not be too close to where you have to go but there's probably a bus that can take you somewhere close to where you need to go. Parking for sports is better than any other college campus I have been to. At many places you may have to find parking on the local side streets in front of houses but that's never the case here as long as you have some sort of permit. Even a night permit which is less than $100 for the whole year. The rules are fairly clear and it's really not that hard to avoid getting tickets. I've never had a problem with the parking people and if they weren't doing their job patrolling campus then parking would be a mad house.
