Local Atmosphere at Sarah Lawrence College

A

Safe, Cozy, & Limitless

It's a suburb of NYC, so you get the safety and security of Bronxville, which is a cute little uppser class town, and the possibility of going into New York at anytime, which is where you'll find endless resources. It's the best of both worlds because you get the comfort of a small town, and the option of the big city. Bronxville and SLC don't connect in many ways, which is why I am not giving this an A+. But the people are friendly, and there are community partnership programs with Yonkers so, it's all good.

Off-Campus Dining at Sarah Lawrence College

A

Everything

A lot of people here don't realize how good the options actually are. While Yonkers has a lot of the chain restaurants, and more options for ethnic food, Bronxville has beautiful local cafes and such. And many places deliver to the school. Not giving it an A+ because the only grocery store in walkable distance is a 10min walk to Stop & Shop from the center of campus. Not bad, but I wish it were a Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. But the campus shuttles provide weekend trips to Trader Joe's which is nice.

Diversity at Sarah Lawrence College

A

Mostly White, but Really Open

While most students here are white, everyone is really invested in discovering more about race and ethnicity and the students who do come from minority ethnicities carry their weight and so their presence is never lost. Lots of international students. Definitely diverse in its kind of people more than in race and socioeconomic background and religion. As far as sexual orientation and political beliefs, the campus is very alive in performing those kinds of diversity. Everyone is EXTREMELY accepting of all things, and everyone is curious in the intellectual discovery of other peoples' backgrounds.

Parking at Sarah Lawrence College

A

Always a Spot

There's always somewhere to park close enough to where you're going. You don't need a car on campus at all because you can just call the main desk and the shuttle will pick you up anywhere, anytime for free 24/7. That's a nice thing in the winter. Permit costs are cheaper than they were in my high school.

Overall Experience at Sarah Lawrence College

A+

The Most Unique Place

The people are unique and fascinatingly diverse; it is sometimes its own little creative bubble, but it makes you appreciate how lucky we are to live around such interesting people all the time. The professors and academics are so accessible and open, you never feel limited in what you can explore. The school does its best to fund any projects you look for, clubs are thriving, and the social scene is fitting for the kind of student that wants to go here. There's always something happening on campus, and if you feel like doing other things there's always NYC. No pressure to do drugs, but they're around if you want to look for them. Everyone is creative, and yes there are math and science students and they're all brilliantly smart and innovative in their own ways. You can be yourself here, express any passion, and everyone will support you.
