Academics at Smith College

A

Smith Academics

Almost always small classes, almost always great professors, AWESOMELY open curriculum (having no Core Curriculum is so much more freeing than what my friends at other schools have to deal with!), more research opportunities than I know what to do with. Remarkably flexible education. Registration is clear and easy, and if you want it badly enough, you can almost always get into the class you want.

Campus Strictness at Smith College

C

Varies

It really depends on where on campus you are I think. Green Streeters are less substance-influenced, so if you do anything there, you're more likely to get caught. Wilder things happen in the quad, so the context for whatever you do is different there. First time offenders get a talking to, which really doesn't mean anything, next time you'll probably go to Judicial Board, but it's not like they'll kick you out. Academically, I really don't know anyone who cheats, and cheating is taken much more seriously, especially by the student body.

Overall Experience at Smith College

A+

Love It

Smith is the perfect place for me. It's not the perfect place for everyone, but if you're a smart, cool, queer girl, you couldn't do any better. Northampton is a great town. The campus parties I've been to are usually lame and seem hyper-subervised, but I manage to have plenty of fun and trouble regardless, and if partying is your scene, I know some friends go to other nearby colleges really easily.
