Johnson & Wales University - Charlotte had a new discussion posted by smauragas

I'm looking at the culinary programs at Johnson and Wales and the Art Institute of Charleston. Any advice?

Evaluate what type of program you really want to pursue. I chose J&W because my passion is baking and desserts. I didn't want to waste time on classes I wasn't interested in with minor participation in the field I wanted to work in. J&W offers a specific track for that with out the extra work of several classes before specializing in what you think is best for your passion.

I would mot definately go to jOHNSON AND WALES because they are really amazing teachers the instructors all have great experience and can most definitely point you into a successful direction also tutition is much cheaper at JWU than ART INSTITUTE

Johnson & Wales is one of the BEST hospitality programs nation wide , the Art Institute is just money hungry and you won't receive the proper education as you will with JWU

The culinary program at Johnson and Wales is most likely going to be more in depth than the Art Institute of Charleston. JWU may be more expensive, but the education you receive is definately worth what you pay.

I'm considering the culinary programs at the Art Institute of Charleston and Trident Tech. Any advice?

I would consider going to trident tech because it is way cheaper than the art institute of Charleston and also you have to pay for parking meters.

Trident is alot cheaper, but they do not offer degrees only certificates from what i am told. AI has a bigger selection of culinary classes, and also offer bussing if you live within about a 20 minute range from the school.

It is a fun program, I have been in the Culinary Arts and Sports Nutrition, but you have to take the Culinary classes as well, the chef Instructors are really good....

I have heard great from the culinary arts program at Tridnet Tech. every one I know that has started at AIC always end up transfering to tech or dropping out. It could be different for everyone and i dont know the reasons why but thats all ive heard

Trident Tech has a wonderful culinary program, involving lots of hands on classes and skilled professors.

Trident has a very good culinary program at the fraction of the cost of AI. The instructors are very down to earth and you'll get some experience in the field with plenty of volunteer opportunities.

I'm in the program currently and absolutely love it! The chefs are amazing and really want to help you learn.
