How is the exploratory program? Does it help people find what they want to study?

I was in the Exploratory program my first year and my adviser helped me choose what major fit me best.

Ok, thanks!

Why USF over FSU?

USF because of the amount of money they offered me

I'm not sure if I am going to go to FSU yet, even though I have already been accepted.. If you go to FSU, why did you choose this school and what do you like about it?

Thanks :)

I am in the College of Education part of FSU. I chose FSU because it is in the top 42 colleges in the nation. I needed a university degree as opposed to a community college degree to teach at orphanages in Africa. FSU meets my needs! Go Noles!

I chose this school for the high esteem that the degrees from it carry. I enjoyed my classes and professors as well.

I chose it for the Meteorology program. Top in the southeast! Other than that, it is a nice campus, and the football games are awesome!

Thanks you guys for responding! I think I'm going to commit tonight! :)

TCU is my dream school, but I'm scared I won't be able to go because it's so expensive.. How are they with scholarships and when will I hear back about scholarships?

I feel the same exact way! My friend who applied who got a 2010 on her SAT heard back about scholarships in January. I got a 2180 and I still haven't heard anything and I am so insanely nervous. I called my admissions counselor and she said that notifications are going out through mid March. I am still freaking out though! What did you get on the SAT/ACT if you don't mind me asking?

ohmygosh that sucks! My SAT score is lower than yours and my ACT is a 24 :$ not that great...

I got a 33 ACT and they gave me a half tuition scholarship. I heard back within a month, but I applied in November so I was able to apply before the rush.

I applied in late October and I just finally heard about my scholarship yesterday through the portal! So incredibly excited!! Congrats on your full tuition by the way :)

Congrats to both of you for getting scholarships!! I'll keep checking the portal and my mailbox lol

I have been trying to check my status online but it's not working... Can anyone send me the link? Maybe I have the wrong one

I believe you need to create a gator link account. I also applied and needed one

https://login.ufl.edu/idp/Authn/UserPassword is where you use your gator link info to check your status. I don't think admissions decisions come out until the 8th though :(

Status as in acceptance status? As far as I know UF admission decisions are available February 8th 2013.

February 8th at 6pm. I can only imagine the server blow up.

thanks everyone for all the replies! Good luck to all of you guys!

How helpful is TCU with merit based scholarships? I was accepted, but I can only go if I go on a scholarship...

They are very good about helping those who are in need. You'll receive your scholarship offer in February.

Ok, thank you so much

i got a very generous merit scholarship from tcu about a week ago in the mail

So soon? That's awesome! Congrats!

I'm thinking about applying but the only thing I'm concerned about is not getting scholarships... How helpful is A&M with helping out of state students?

Since I have been born and raised in Texas, I cannot fully give you a personal experience, but my potluck roomate is out of state and she is here on a 3,000 dollar scholarship for each year she attends.

ok thank you!

How safe is Baylor? I've seen a few posts and heard that it is somewhat unsafe :$

I've visited campus a few times and have a bunch of friends there. I think it's pretty safe. But nothing's perfect.

How is it not safe?

I just heard that there is a high crime rate

Maybe if you go out into the hood but not on campus. It's perfectly safe.

The crime rate in Waco is fairly high, but nevertheless, Baylor's campus is extremely safe.

Ok thanks

Im thinking about applying to TAMU but I don't know that much about it, so I have a few questions

What are some of the traditions at TAMU? Also how diverse is TAMU? I am a bunch of different minorities so, I want to know if everyone chills with each other or is everyone kinda cliquish?

Thanks :)

There are a LOT of Traditions at TAMU! The best is Midnight Yell, which is yell practice the night before a home game. We also have a statue of Sul Ross at the Academic building that you put a penny on his feet for good luck before any exam or home game. There is also Muster, the Maroon and White game, and many others. When you become a senior you also get to attend the Ring Dance, do the Elephant Walk, and of course, get your Aggie ring!

Texas A&M is very diverse; it would probably actually be harder to find a place that you COULDN'T join in. There is something for everyone, and everyone is pretty friendly. I've lived in College Station all my life, and the Aggie network is something amazing to be part of. :)

Thanks so much for your help :)
