Local Atmosphere at University of Cincinnati

A+

UC Is a Great School!

UC is located in the heart of Clifton, in Cincinnati Ohio, and has a beautiful campus. The activities are endless with intramural sports, greek life (although not HUGE), and so many events that take place throughout the whole year. The safety is increasingly been taken care of, of course with it being in the city there is crime surrounding campus but as for on campus there isnt anything that happens within the "walls" of campus, infact it is safe (but not recommended) to walk around alone on campus at night. Tons of shopping within walking and driving about 10 minutes distance. Tons of events and clubs that happen! THe sporting events are very lively and the support of the community is amazing in that so many people in Cinci love their bearcats! UC is a respected school and people that attend the school are respected highly, it is a wonderful school and very very diverse in cultural backgrounds. People from all over the world, literally, come to UC, especially for the DAAP program which is world renown. The architecture UC has is beautiful and gives a serene feel and the landscape is very peaceful and makes for a wonderful college campus!

Diversity at University of Cincinnati

A+

Great!

The diversity is great! Everyone is accepted as races and culture. Many people in my classes are from different races and countries and everyone is accepting. Economic backgrounds are extremely diverse! There are many "rich" and many "poor" and some in between. Political beliefs tend to be more liberal, although there are exceptions. Religion is not a huge part of UC life although there are groups/clubs that are religious. Sexual orientation is the interesting thing about UC in that everyone, literally, is extremely accepting of those whom are of the same sex. This is common, although not the norm at UC.

Parking at University of Cincinnati

B-

Parking Is Average to Bad

The parking is hit and miss if you don't have a parking pass, which are expensive (running $200-$360 per quarter) There are many parking garages on campus (around 10-12) and many spots that are meters. Lots of businesses around with parking (separate from UC). A car is not needed on campus unless you want to go out out clifton/cincinnati. Buses are available all of the time and travel all around Cinci. UC offers a shuttle service which is free to all UC students and this shuttle goes around the city. Ticketing is not enforced in the garages, although the meters are regularly checked. If you want, you can pay per day in the parking garages which ranges from $4-$9 depending on the time that you are parked in the garages. Everyone is equally entitled to the parking spaces no matter the grade or age or even faculty, although faculty does have 1 parking garage dedicated to them but some faculty does park in the same garages as students. Walking is your best bet to get around in that UC is only 1 square mile therefore there is lots in one space. UC is known for their "3D" campus having buildings underground, above ground and lots of green space. Although there are many options for parking, at least one will due, it is difficult to find a spot during the busiest times of the day (10am-2pm).
