Local Atmosphere at Loyola University Chicago

A+

University Campus + Chi Town!

I go to the Lake Shore campus at Loyola, which has so many opportunities to do great things around campus, but we also have the option to go to the city, which is about 20 minutes away from downtown Chicago. At the Lake Shore campus, we have a wonderful trail along the lake that I love to walk with friends. Loyola also has its own beach which students love to go to during the weekends to swim, play frisbee, study etc. Our school is also very safe too, because we have campus safety patrolling almost all streets around Loyola, and we also have blue safety boxes around that a student can press if they feel threatened, as well as a phone number students can call on their cell phones for immediate help. If you get bored at the Lake Shore campus (which is hard to do), you can always go downtown, which always has something going on.

Academics at Loyola University Chicago

A

Biology at Its Best.

I am a bio major, and Loyola is known for their biology/premed program, so I can relate to many people, their classes, and interests. Majoring in biology is very tough, and you have to be a dedicated student that is willing to do a lot of outside work and studying in order to attain decent grades in your classes. Loyola has a myriad of connections to businesses in the city, so finding a job or internship through the University is pretty attainable. The staff in the biology department are very helpful, knowledgeable, and approachable.
