The Melting Pot
America is no longer a "white only" country; almost never was. To say that ISU is not diverse enough for a big college campus is an incredible understatement. Illinois State University is wonderfully diverse and this does not bother anybody on campus. We are all accepting of one another in regard to race or sexual orientation. There are even several clubs and groups for people who are looking for people with similar interests as themselves, i.e. ISU Pride which is a club for LGBT awareness and support. Economic background is never a big deal. For example, my roommate on campus didn't have a TV or fridge for our dorm but I was able to provide those and we share them happily. There are also different church groups for students that are interested. Nobody on our campus ever has to feel pressured to change themselves or embarrassed to be who they are.

Traffic!
We have good parking lots in accessible areas but there are lots of people who need to get there also so you have to get there really early!
