The South Side of the Mountain
The surrounding neighborhood of Lehigh does not have the best reputation. The South Side of Bethlehem is home to large population of Latinos. Students often avoid going to far off-campus because it can get a little too dangerous. There are break-ins in students houses and robberies a block away from campus. The relationship between the "townies" and Lehigh students is pretty tense. Attractions include the Hershey's Park, the Iron Pigs Coca-Cola baseball park, the Lehigh Valley Mall is not too far from Lehigh, and there is a large variety of restaurants off campus that offer some variety to the on-campus dining locations.

OH! the Greeks
The Greek system at Lehigh is so unique. It is so hard to generalize what non-Greeks think of the Greeks. I think they have a very bad reputation of being total drunks and addicts but not all of them are. I do know that alcohol and drug abuse are huge problems within the Greeks and they can be very exclusive, but most groups at Lehigh have become very exclusive and excluding. It seems like people tend to forget that the Greeks have to deal with their our problems, and by problems I am not referring to pledging, but rather their relationship with the university on top of their relationship with the national level of their chapter while battling this bad image.

I Think I'll Walk, I Don't Want a Ticket.
Parking at Lehigh is a hot topic of discussion. It is very hard to understand the meter system and people often complain of officer being either beyond strict when giving tickets and sometimes not present. So you never know how it will turn out for your wallet when parking at Lehigh.
