Professors Who Actually Care

The majority of the professors at Duquesne really put time and effort into getting to know each of their students and really help them out with their class work. Unlike bigger schools where the professors deal with hundreds of students in each of their classes and therefore never really get to know their students, Duquesne professors usually only have about 20 to 40 students in their classes so they really get to know each student well.

Academics at Duquesne University

A

Economics

Economics is one of the hardest majors in the business school at Duquesne. There are currently only about 12 or 13 Economic majors total. The course load can be overwhelming and it deals with a lot of theory and math which scares a lot of people away. The professors who teach in the department are great and really know what they are talking about. The students are able to get really close since there are so few of them in the major. Overall the hard work and amount of time put into this major are worth it.

Campus Strictness at Duquesne University

C-

Hardcore Catholic

The strictness at this university is probably one of the worst things about the school. Because it is a Catholic University they are very strict on signing in people into your rooms, they have specific times people are allowed to be signed in and out of the rooms, no overnight visitors of the opposite sex ever, and you have to sign in alcohol if you are of age and there is a limit to how much alcohol you can sign in at once. On top of that you always have to swipe into your dorm rooms with your i.d. and past a certain hour you have to swipe into your dorm buildings with your i.d. and if you don't have your i.d. they will not allow you to go into the room unless you prove you actually live there. There are RAs and GAS in every building even the apartment buildings on campus who do rounds every night to make sure no one is signed in past hours and no one is partying in the dorms. Overall the school is very strict about visitation, partying, drinking, and security.
