Diversity at Baylor University

B

Diversity at Baylor

There is much ethnic/racial diversity, some economic diversity, and much more religious diversity than I expected at a Bapist University. I have really enjoyed the environment this creates and the opportunities to talk to and relate to people of all different backgrounds. I think that the teachers are very sensitive to the possibility that students may not fit the norm in their religious background and try to make all students comfortable. A critique I have of the diversity is that although there is certainly interaction between people of different backgrounds, I have noticed that often black students hang out with mostly black students, Indian students with Indian students, etc. This is especially evident in the sororities and fraternities. Most of the larger ones are almost all white, and students that are not white usually join sororities/fraternities that are based on their own ethnic or racial group.

Campus Strictness at Baylor University

A

Strict but Not Too Instrusitve

Baylor does have strict policies, such as no alcohol on campus, tough penalties for being caught with drugs, and curfews for visitors of the opposite sex in dorms, but these haven't really bothered me because I would probably follow these policies anyway even if they weren't rules. They are not always trying to watch you to make sure you are doing what you're suppossed to do.
