There is definitely a wide variety of interests amongst the student population at CMU. You will definitely find someone to fit in with your interests whether your a sports person, theater person, tech person, and so on. I wouldn't say that there is an interest that students necessarily all share to determine a narrow stereotype but there's a little bit of everything. The party scene is usually present but it is not crazy...it is not necessary to attend them (if it isn't your thing) in order to have a good time. You can wear whatever you want and be accepted...and there are people with all different types of relationship statuses.
