Social Drinking
Students consume alcohol socially. Since the school is composed of a fairly liberal and artsy yet philosophical student body, smoking is a close second. However, not everyone participates in these activities and those that do demonstrate responsibility and seldom allow their social lives to interfere with their studies.

Bicycles and Buses
VCU is located in the heart of Richmond where it is too close to everything to need to drive, yet some places may be out of one's preferred walking distance. Therefore bicycles are the most common and efficient form of transportation. The university also provides a campus connector bus route free of charge to students as well as an escort service for safe travel after dark.

Proud to Be a Ram
I chose this school because of its diversity and its urban location. I couldn't have asked for a better learning environment. VCU allowed me to study within walking distance of the river, museums, farmer's markets, historic districts, as well as everything that one would find in a big city while simultaneously providing me with the opportunity to meet people from around the world and from every walk of life.
