Generally Safe
Our campus is covered with blue police lights that have a button to push if you ever feel as though you could be in harms way. Although these are everywhere, I have never pushed one and have heard that many of them are fake, however I am unaware if this is true or not. Campus police regularly patrol our campus whether it be on horseback, foot patrol, or in their car. Once darkness falls, several police vehicles can be found around campus consistently. Being just behind the strip, and in an area heavily populated by homeless people, if you choose to walk around at night, you will find many random creepers strolling about. Other than that I feel a general sense of being safe, and never walk the campus alone at night.

Living in the Dorms
I lived in the dorms my freshman year. I think it was a great option for me at the time because I am an out of state student and didn't know a single person when I moved down here. This was a great way to meet a lot of people very quickly. I definitely made some of my best friends living in the dorms, and three years later I am still in touch with all of them though we are all in different living situations now. If you live in the dorms, don't expect much sleep. For the entire year, I never got a night where I was asleep before midnight, and this being my early night was due to me feeling under the weather. It was constantly loud, regardless of quiet hour rules, however, there was always something fun to do. Living in the dorms is extremely expensive, but definitely worth it for that one year. The convenience that the dorms provide you with is outstanding. What college student doesn't want the opportunity of waking up 15 minutes before class starts and still getting there on time?

It's Vegas, You Have Everything
Being right behind the strip, and being in Vegas there won't be a single night when you can't find something to do. Fraternities have parties extremely often, and you don't have to be a member of greek life to attend these. There's tons of clubs and bars both on and off the strip that are always available. Underage nightlife isn't quite as available however, I feel that it is the same as any other city, it is just open later. For example, bowling, karaoke, eating, movies, etc. Transportation is key. Vegas is a commuter city, and things off the strip are far apart. Having a car is a must if living off-campus, however if living on campus or near the strip, taxis are your best bet. I definitely wouldn't trust the buses, you have no idea who's on there, especially at night.
