Parking at Wake Forest University

B

Good If Upperclassman, Sucks If Freshman

There's a lot of parking available for the upperclassmen, liberally spread about around campus. But even though they say they offer parking for freshmen, I would not advise a freshman to take them up on their offer. Freshmen parking is a ten minute walk from campus, and you have to pass a very busy road to get there. It's more trouble than it's worth in my opinion.

Overall Experience at Wake Forest University

B-

Your Mileage May Vary

I don't want to say the college is definitively good or bad. To the contrary, I think it's either a place you either love or hate. If you're athletic, outgoing, preppy, and enjoy Greek life, you'll probably love it, and if you're not, it's probably not the place for you. Wake Forest is not diverse at all, so you either fit in beautifully or stick out like a sore thumb.

Local Atmosphere at Wake Forest University

C

School Is Disconnected from Campus

The city in which Wake Forest lies, Winston-Salem, is a pretty big city, so I suppose if you wanted to find something to do around town, you could. However, WFU isn't really in Winston-Salem (to the contrary, you sort of have to drive to get into the city) and as a result, basically no one actually goes into WS to do anything. Students refer to the campus as the "Wake Forest bubble" because people on campus are so isolated from everything else.

If you're looking for a strictly campus feel, though, this isn't a bad thing.

Athletics at Wake Forest University

B+

Not Into Sports, So...

I'm not into sports, so I probably can't give as holistic a review as someone else. That being said, though, school spirit is pretty big here, and most people are involved in intramural sports. It's definitely a sporty campus.

Diversity at Wake Forest University

F

No Diversity Whatsoever

This is actually my biggest beef with the school, and what has led me to look into transferring. There is ZERO diversity in all respects.

Race:

Wake Forest is very white, and minorities stick out like a sore thumb. Asians especially.

Personality diversity:

As a whole, WFU is extremely preppy. There aren't many exceptions to this rule... if you're not preppy, it can be kind of tough finding people similar to you.

Economic background:

For the most part, I don't think anyone at WFU is too badly off.

Campus Dining at Wake Forest University

C

Gets Boring Fast

There aren't a ton of options for food on campus. There's the main cafeteria and a handful of little fast-food places, none of which I think are particularly great. I don't think the food is bad per se, but it gets old really fast.

I also don't really like how the school makes you purchase a set meal plan. I definitely don't use all of the meals it forced me to purchase, so it's kind of a waste of money.

Campus Strictness at Wake Forest University

D

Strictness? What?

To be honest, I'm pretty sure you could be five years old and wasted on the sidewalk, and the campus police still wouldn't care.

Academics at Wake Forest University

B

Good, but Too Easy

I've generally liked my academic experience here. Professors are very accessible and friendly, and their courses are interesting. That said, though, classes here are really easy and kind of go slowly. I haven't felt challenged at all.
