Local Atmosphere at SUNY University at Albany

Off Campus Activities

There are a lot of possible things to do in the city of Albany. From the university, the nearest mall and Walmart are only 6 minutes away by car and bus and it goes directly back to campus. Downtown Albany, there are museums, libraries and an arena that singers and performers often perform at. There are also dance clubs that often let those 18 and older in and bars for the older undergrad and graduate students. For those who want to order food on the weekends, there are a variety of places and types of food students can choose from with extensive menus. They are also open until late hours, even on the weekdays. My friends usually like to explore different aspects of Albany and engage in activities such as laser tagging, bowling and ice skating (in the winter of course).

Nightlife at SUNY University at Albany

Everyone Gets to Party

The nightlife at Albany is pretty diverse so everyone can get to enjoy their weekends. Fraternities at the school host partiers in the campus Ballroom or rent out a club for special occasions such as our school's homecoming. On other weekends, there are clubs that let in those 18 and older, which is the common age for those at the University. There are plenty of cab services thats are available to take students to their destinations and there are two main buses that take students directly from campus to downtown Albany, usually several feet to about a block from their destination.

Overall Experience at SUNY University at Albany

A-

I Made a Great Choice

Being at Albany is a great experience. Students rarely feel bored here unless they choose to not do anything. Even when you do not have money to go out and explore the city of Albany, there are free events on campus that you can attend. Studying is easy with the choice of three libraries to use and extended hours during finals week. Professors are usually helpful and available outside of class to talk to one on one. There are a lot or clubs you can join and if you are interested in something and there isn't a club for it, you can start one as long as there are five members.
