Safety and Security on Campus
During my time spent at USD I have never felt threatened on campus. The town is small and the people are amazing. Also, I am constantly seeing the campus police vehicles driving around not only the campus, but highly populated student living areas, at all hours of the day.

Campus Strictness
The campus really doesn't get to involved in the things that it's students do outside of the school hours. But being as Vermillion is a small town, they police force does keep a very strict eye on loud noises, or big groups of people walking from house to house on the weekends. One thing they don't watch too strictly are the Greek houses.

Transportation Options
If you are looking to go on a long-distance trip, Vermillion is not the place to leave from. There is no airport in the town. The closest one is about half an hour away. Also the town is very small and everything is within a walking distance from the campus so there is really no need for taxi's. But there are busses that give rides from the bars late at night to reduce drinking and driving
