Sports Are...An Option
Well, although Rice is a Division 1 school, there's not that much interest overall in attending games and matches. While there are certainly people who attend various games, there's just not the level of fan involvement you would normally see at a D1 school. IM and club sports are pretty popular overall, although different residential colleges will be more involved than others when it comes to some sports. Overall, I feel that most people at Rice view sports as just another activity to choose from.

A Wet Campus
So, even though Rice has its drug users, just like other schools, the big thing on campus is alcohol. The idea of a drinking culture at Rice and how you interact with and react to the idea of it is important, given that Rice is a wet campus.

It's Houston
Well, Rice is in Houston, and so, of course, winters here are fairly mild compared to the rest of the country, and occasionally, classes will be canceled should there be a serious threat of ice. When it rains, it pours, and there's quite a bit of humidity during the spring. But, it's very nice during September, October, March, and April. Of course, being Houston, watch out for the heat in August and May.
