Campus Housing at Massachusetts Institute of Technology

B

Simmons Hall, MIT

The housing process is great; administration does everything possible to make sure you end up where you want to be.

Simmons is a very nice dorm with big rooms, good cooking and lounge spaces, and friendly people. It's costly, though, and the in-house dining hall isn't as good as some of the others.

An Attractive Nerdly Bunch

Everyone here is a nerd in one way or another. Despite that, just about everyone is well-put-together and reasonably attractive. People here are a lot of fun, too: whether you enjoy mad parties (college kids from all over Boston come to MIT parties because they're organized better) or making plasma arcs with friends in the lounge down the hall, there are people willing to do it with you.

Computers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology

A+

Athena Clusters Are Fantastic.

Campus computing is widespread and convenient. Some of the clusters are nearly always busy (Building 12, Building 56) but unless you absolutely have to use a computer in one of those buildings you'll usually find plenty of open workstations. Printing quotas aren't a problem, and the Pharos system is great--just hit print, and then swipe your id card at any printer on campus and your print job pops out.
