I would like to become a child psychiatrist. What should my major be?

I'd suggest studying something like psychology or social sciences. Both of these would give valuable insights that you could use in your career. :) Taking a few upper-level science courses could also be useful!

How would you rate the psychiatry program at this school?

I haven't taken that yet. I'm a senior in highschool. :'D

I am not familiar with the psychiatry program personally. I know a few students who are and they seem to enjoy it.

I am don't know anything about the psychiatry program on my own but the few people I do know who are interested and in that program say that it is really good.

What, exactly, is a counselor evaluation? My counselors aren't even sure...

just have them write a recommendation that speaks to your involvement at school, your attitude, and your passion - give them a resume so they have something to use. most of us don't know all of our students that personally.

My counselor says she can't send anything unless UNT sends her an email. She also says she can't release the class rank until school gets out in May!

Counselor Evaluations basically help students assess their overall "want" to be in school. They look at your involvement within school programs, your motivation to attend class, and such things regarding your overall attitude towards school.

you don't need her to send anything... ask her for a copy of your transcript... if you go to school in Texas the bottom of the tscript will have your gpa and class rank, as of the end of school last year. gpa and rank are only recalculated after the end of a semester. if you send one sent to UNT and you didn't do the applytexas application then call UNT admissions and explain the situation - they're pretty easy to work with and they will help you out

Does UNT allow small pets?

For example a small dog or guinea pig?

no

In the dorms, animals are not allowed. But if you have an apartment, more than likely they'll let you have one. You have to pay pet deposits for that though.

Not in the dorms but you can find apartments that allow them.

UNT does not allows small animals =(. I know this because I was wanting to bring my chinchillas with me to college so I asked. But like most schools, UNT does allow fish and other small aquatic animals.

UNT does not allow any type of pets within the dormitory.

In dorms, I am pretty sure that no pets are allowed except for fish but in off-campus housing, it varies. Many will allow small dogs and other such pets.

no

only fish are allowed. And of course stuffed animals.

Not sure

not in the dorms, but possibly in student housing. other than aquatic animals that require little care are allowed.

Once again, i have NO idea (??) about this question. I wish that i could help you but i do NOT have that answer. Sorry BUT...

yes

no pets. only goldfish.

The dorms have a no pet policy unless it is a fish. Some apartments will allow you to have pets but most require some type of fee.

University of North Texas does not allow students to have pets in the dorms. I believe the only thing that you can have in a dorm room is fish and that is it.

no

I believe you have to be an RA to have be allowed to have a pet.

No. The only pet that is allowed is fish.

Which hall has the most personal dorms?

Is there a residence hall? with its own bathroom? Which residence hall is the best overall?

all

Sante Fe Hall

There are many dorms that have private bathrooms. The newer halls like Santa Fe, and Mozart are the best.

victory

Yes, there definitely is. I say Mozart is one of the best dorms on campus. You share a bathroom, kitchen and living room with only your roommate... but you have your own personal room with a lock on it.

The best residence hall is the Honor's dorm. The rooms are semi-private with a shared bathroom with your suite mate. The Honor's drom has a diverse group of dedicated students.

I don't live on campus but the residence halls look good.

Victory

The best hall is Kerr, if you major in any type of business or dealing with business it is perfect.

Santa Fe is the newest and nicest with one bath per room

Mozart Hall has the best dorms, none have their own individual bathrooms but at least this one as well as traditions have their own rooms within the dorm. ( only upperclassmen)

victory hall if you're a freshman mozart square if you're upper classman

Kerr is the best residence hall. It has a bathroom in between two rooms.

The two dorms that include private dorms are Honors Hall (for honors students only) Victory Hall (for football players but traditional students can also live there).

Legends Hall have private and semi-private rooms so you don't have a roommate. Kerr Hall is the most popular but Legends is better :)

I have only stayed in Kerr Hall, which was DEFINITELY not the best. The upperclassmen dorms are nicer, with Honors taking the cake of most personal.

Victory Hall and Traditions Hall are the most personal dorms. You can apply for a single person room and have access to your own bathroom and privacy.

Traditions Hall

Yes, there are residence halls, but I am not sure which are the best because I live off campus.

West Hall. Its not the biggest so you don't have to worry about a lot of noise and it has a cafeteria with usually good company in the lobby as people come and go.

Don't live on campus

No Hall offers personal bathrooms but Legends Hall, Honors Hall, and Mozart Square offer more private rooms with only two rooms sharing a bathroom. Legends Hall is the best overall.

The only residential halls I have been in are Kerr and Clark. Between Clark and Kerr they are pretty much rated about the same.

Victory Hall, Traditions, or Honors. Honors Hall has its own bathroom and it is the nicest.

Legends, fully booked now since March, you can get on a wait list though and hope for cancellations.

From experience I would say Mozart Hall is the best hall you can choose. This place looks like a hotel on the inside. It's very comfortable and the rooms are large. There are bathrooms in these.

not aware.

They have lots of dorms. Also, there are lots of options out campus, but beside it. Check Jackson Chang: jcrent@usa.net

santa fe and victory but you have to pay more.

I need your advice- University of North Texas

I'm a junior and I'm graduating December 2012. I really would like to become a counseling psychology, and because I have a lot of family in Texas, I want to go to school there. Besides, it's a great place and I really love it there. Would UNT be a good choice for counseling psychology? On a scale of 1-10? And how are the scholarships? How strict is it? Thanks so much!

UNT is a great overall school, it is close to the DFW area so you can get a lot of experiences of all kinds.

Thank you so much for answering. Do you know how good the psychology program is?

My roommate is majoring in psychology, and I believe they have a masters program here! We have a lot of opportunities for scholarships for all students.

UNT would be a great place for you. Our Psychology program is recognized. I think our staff and faculty make the program a 9 out of 10. Scholarships are abundant here and so is financial aid.

Thank you all so much. I have one more question that would help immensely. What does your ACT score need to be for half or full tuition?

Yes. Overall the school has an excellent rep for academics & for it's financial aid department.

Great, school a lot of ammenities. There programs are excellent

UNT is great and they work with to get scholarship in the financial aid. UNT gets a rating of 8 for the psychology side of education. There really are multiple scholarships that are available to students.

UNT is a very great school of the counseling program! Its not east its pretty tough. You must to determined and willing to work hard. From a scale of 1-10 i would giver the program an 8. There are scholarship but very competitive.

I can grade UNT 9/10. There are many scholarships available for any mojors.

10 they have several major and minors. They also have social clubs that will help with majors. The is has so much to offer and is perfect in every way.

unt would be a great choice, I would rate it a 10! The scholarships are outstanding and its not strict at all.

As far as I know, UNT has a great psychology program. I am I bio major so i don't have much info on the psych department. I personally love UNT. Denton is a great place to live. There's ton's of scholarships you can apply for.

UNT would be a great choice! I'd say a 9 out of 10. There are many scholarships to apply for. The most famous one would be the Eagle Merit Scholarship which pays for tuition. UNT is a great school and I would advise to do a campus visit. Good luck!

I've read that UNT has a great counseling psychology program. I would rate it an 8. As far as scholarships, you have to have a 3.25 to apply. Good luck! I love UNT and I'm majoring in Biology.

I don't know much about counseling psychology majors but on a scale of 1-10, I would rate UNT a 10. There are plenty of scholarships provided by the school and there are also departmental scholarships. This a great school.

I am not aware of the psychology program at UNT and the scholarships were easy for me to get.

Depends on what kind of counseling, we're really good at LGBT studies here. I've not had that great of a time of getting scholarships, sorry. And we're not that strict here! So a solid 8.
