Incredibly Safe
I live on a small gated campus where our security guards take their jobs very seriously and come equipped with, not only weapons, but care for the students whom they are securing. It is practically impossible for trespassers to sneak on and we even see our police down the street, so we can feel safe even walking to the fast food restaurants up the street.

Not on Our Campus
I have seen many of my school's students outside of our gates smoking different things and drinking with people from our partner schools but I barely see even cigarettes on our campus.

Expensive
I'm not sure. From what I have heard, parking at our all male counterpart school is better, less crowded, and CHEAPER.

95% Women
Spelman is a women's college but there is an opportunity to cross register at the neighboring Atlanta schools including the men's college a few steps away, Morehouse, and the co-ed university right outside our gates, Clark Atlanta University, and more. There will be at most 5 guys in a class of 20. Most of the guys that cross register are pretty handsome and they never come over looking like they just rolled out of bed, some even dress up to go to a class here, ties, suits, the whole 9. There are surprisingly not very many homosexual women, although there are a handful. If you are at Spelman and want to find that special guy you can rely on your friends to introduce you to someone special or you can go out on an adventure of your own and meet people from the AUC schools.

Ain't Nothin' Better Than Abby Psi Phi
I stayed in Abby my first year of Spelman and it was wonderful. Although it was so far away from everything, especially the entrance gate when you were coming from a late party, it was very homey and everyone knew one another in the dorm. We were the smallest dorm so we were like a big family. Now I am at LLC2 and although we have A/C and elevators, we barely know anyone other than our roomates. It is best to stay off of campus as soon as possible, though, because Spelman is already EXTRA EXPENSIVE.

Bye Bye Greeks
The Spelman sororities are losing members because most of them graduated and/or are graduating. Morehouse is kind of our counterpart, we do most things together. Their fraternities are always throwing parties and they're usually a bunch of fun, the house parties or the parties at specific clubs and other places. Be sure not to act like one of them when you're not, that will end in tragedy.

It's an HBCU
Most of the people are African American/Black because it's an HBCU. It's expected. There are a few biracial people and international students though. There is a lot of diversity though outside of race. There are people from all over the United States, even from those forgotten states like Iowa and Rhode Island as well as some from the Bahamas, Jamaica, Bermuda, and places like that. There are different backgrounds and religions as well as different financial backgrounds.

Rainy and Sunny With a Chance of Clouds
It rains A LOT at Spelman and the area/schools around it. Get rain boots and plenty of umbrellas. It snows rarely but when it does it's only about 2 inches max but expect everything to be shut down because of those 2 inches. It gets sunny when it's not rainy but the whether is often unpredictable, expect rain just about everyday especially in the spring and fall.

What Financial Aid?!
Get plenty of outside scholarships there are only a handful of students who receive the GLORIOUS full ride. I have gotten a couple federal grants and I am on a general college pay through Spelman's wonderful Health Careers Office. I am paying this school $40,000 per year and they haven't given me a single scholarship. They do offer loans, but I have taken about 50,000 out in loans and I'm at the second semester of my second year.
