Everyone Is Gorgeous

No just kidding. There are a lot of hot people here but it's not a requirement or a constant. You will find people across the spectrum in terms of gender, sexuality, sexual orientation, race, class, political views and environmental views but you also see a lot of homogenization. A lot of people at Skidmore would probably be placed into the very broad "hipster" category when it comes to clothing. As well, the majority of the population fits into a moderate to liberal political viewpoint.

I'm a Self-Determined Major

I created my own major at Skidmore when I realized no major was offering exactly what I wanted to do. Being a Self-Determined major isn't hard, but it's not easy. You have to have the drive and the willingness to really take your ownt i education by the reigns. You're overseen by a board and you work closely with at least two advisors but always comes down to what you want and what you're capable of doing. My Self-Determined major is in Electronic Media and Communications. I've taken classes in many departments including Studio Art, English, Sociology, Anthropology, Interdisciplinary and Foreign Language that all count towards my major. On top of those classes I've worked on independent studies with multiple professors to further develop ideas and research. To round out my experience I will be creating a multi-media capstone project at the end of my senior. The experience of the Self-Determined major has been really rewarding.
