Study Space for All
Vanderbilt offers a very wide array of study-space options. Several buildings across campus are open to students 24/7, including 2 of the school's 8 libraries and many classrooms (which are great for study groups). The Starbucks in the Student Life Center and a virtually silent room off of the main cafeteria are popular and easily accessible. There are also multiple coffee shops, cafes, and book stores within walking distance of campus for those who need an occasional change of scenery.

Alcohol More Prevalent, but Can Get Drugs If You Want
Every school has drugs. Every school has alcohol. Alcohol is more common at Vanderbilt, but you can have fun without it. Drugs are less common, but still popular, though more behind closed doors.

All 4 Seasons, but Watch Out for Rain
Spring and fall are gorgeous! And many lawns and a nearby park make beautiful weather very easy to enjoy. But it rains in Nashville fairly often, so umbrellas, rain boots, and rain jackets are a must.

First Year Housing Is Ridiculously Amazing
Vanderbilt has an amazing housing system for first year students: the Commons. The Commons is still on Vanderbilt's campus (Peabody campus to be more precise) but is separated from the upperclassmen dorms. It consists of 10 dorms: 5 newly renovated and 5 brand new. The brand new ones are nicer, but the newly renovated ones are great too (and a little closer to main campus, where most people's classes are). The rooms are mostly doubles, and each room has its own thermostat. The Commons gets lots of funding and has tons of activities and programming for students.
