Lancaster
Small-city atmosphere rich with culture, dining, and cute trendy shops. There are First Fridays every first friday of the month which feature the downtown shops, retaurants, and show off the Lancaster scene and community. Lots of cute places to eat. Lancaster has its own train station which makes it easy to travel to Philly/NYC/DC. The Lancaster Market is a local favorite.

Safety
Overall safety on campus is good-- but once you get more downtown it's a little sketchy. Its good to always have a friend or two with you, especially at night. We do get emails regarding thefts, assault, etc., but it is not often enough to be worried.

Facilities
We have a great athletic center, the ASFC which boasts a fairly new pool and has indoor basketball/tennis courts, a track, and a gym. The gym could be bigger and gets very busy especially around 3-5, but it has a fair amount of equipment. There are two libraries, one is much bigger than the other and a lot of the students go there to study. There are always things going on around campus which are easily advertised in either emails, posters, on sidewalks and in the college center. The campus is friendly, but during the week most students are on their "grind".

Dining
The food choices are ok. The dining hall has gone downhill in recent years, but provide enough so you don't get too bored and the food isn't too bad. Dhall has a section called KIVO- kosher, international, vegan, organic which is good for students who desire that food (I usually eat there, they have the most options and I don't eat kosher or vegan). You get tired of the food pretty easily, but there are lots of places downtown and nearby that can satisfy you when dhall fails (which it will).

Admission
F&M does offer the common app, and they let you exempt from sending your SATs and send two papers or writing assignments instead which is nice. Admission is around 35%, it is a great school so its hard to get into. However if you are being recruited for sports you might get a little more help than others. Every student has to go in for a one-on-one interview with admissions, but many schools require some sort of interview so it's nothing to fret over.
