Campus Dining at Denison University

D

Awful

The dining halls are awful. Some of the workers are nice...can't say the same about the food: redundant, bad taste, leaves you feeling either unfulfilled or sick to your stomach, no fresh fruit, etc. Slayter Union says it has food...but I have personally got food poisoning twice from food that I didn't even enjoy eating in the first place and every food item they sell tastes like a knock-off version of mediocre food establishments. And P.S. if you think off-campus dining will make up for the horrible food on campus, sorry to disappoint but Granville food doesn't leave you with many choices.

Athletics at Denison University

C-

Ehhh...

We have a good lacrosse, field hockey, and swimming team but we're still a D-3 school. We have absolutely NO school pride - even for our good sports. Our athletic facilities are okay, but the gym closes at 9 and the swimming pool isn't open on the weekends. Overall, I'm displeased with DU athletics.

Transportation at Denison University

B-

Walking Campus

DU campus is so small that you really don't need a car. Everything on campus is within walking distance. However, if you need anything aside from what CVS offers (ie: groceries, clothes, etc) you would need a car because Granville has almost nothing - everything you would need is in Newark, OH, about a fifteen minute drive away. The school offers free shuttles to and from Walmart, Target, Easton Shopping Center, etc every once in a while, however, this is inconvenient if you don't feel like waiting a week or two for the next shuttle.

Overall Experience at Denison University

D

Hoping to transfer

I honestly have to say the reason a vast majority of students came to Denison was because of the financial aid this school offers. However, almost anyone you ask (literally, almost anyone) says they wish they could or they wish they had transferred. Regardless of their affiliation with greek life, performing programs, sports, clubs, etc, most people would agree that Denison is boring, there is relatively little to do on campus, the lack of course options makes it virtually impossible to create a schedule that you will actually interest you, the parties are awful, the administration is overly controlling, the lack of housing options are annoying, the on-campus food is disgusting, and the lack of school spirit is frustrating. It's sad to say but I absolutely hate Denison...and what I hate more is the fact that everyone around me seems to share the same opinion. If you're a high schooler thinking about applying to DU, DON'T! I guarantee you will regret your decision - and continue to regret it until the day you graduate.
