Diversity is decent, but you're almost looked down upon if you're "normal" - however, community is accepting of all sexual orientations and races/ethnicities. Sarah Lawrence attracts people who go against the norm in terms of sexuality and spiritual beliefs, but they tend to do so in a very self-righteous way. Some are perceived to think they're special because their beliefs or preferences go against the social norm.

Horrible!
The parties are awful and awkward and mostly very exclusive to friend groups. There is almost nothing to do on campus if your end goal isn't to get completely wasted and make out with as many people as possible. People are so stressed at Sarah Lawrence that all they do is drink themselves into oblivion on the weekends, and tend to be completely disinterested in nighttime pursuits that don't involve alcohol/drugs. It's fine, but the parties are all the same and do get old after freshman year.

Everyone drinks, so that is the most popular drug (as at most schools), but everyone is also always stoned...I suppose it aids the creative process or something of the sort. There are a decent amount of psychedelics, too, but the big hitter is ecstasy, and coke is also really, disturbingly prevalent. We have a lot of coke junkies, and a lot of snorting off disgruntled roommates' laptops. It's all slightly self-destructive and starving-artist-like.
