Racial Diversity?
There's a limited amount of racial diversity at this university. There are tons of international students, Caucasians, Asian Americans, Mexican Americans, Indians, and African Americans. Compared to other schools in California, there's a higher proportion of international and African American students. Most of the internation students are Chinese and Koreans. They usually come from Singapore, China, Taiwan, you name it! There are also a good number of different races from different countries that I have met. I have met Brazilians, Russians, Israelites, Germans, French, etc. I'm Vietnamese and I'm from a town where there are tons of Vietnamese people so it's weird to come to a place where there's so little Vietnamese people. A lot of people (even other Asians) can't distinguish what ethnicity I am. It's really exciting when people can tell I'm Vietnamese because it's a very rare occurence here. I've made friends with Caucasians, Asian Americans, Mexicans, and African Americans. I find it hard to talk to some international students because of the language barrier and their tendency to group up with people who speak their language and are from their country. International students are usually very nice though and it's interesting to relay information about cultural customs and traditions with one another. There's a very large African American, Caucasian, and Indian population. The Mexican/Latino Americans are limited and I very rarely see them. There's a much smaller number of them, but I feel like I can most connect with them because they aren't pretentious and because they can't relate to my economic struggles. I would say that USC is diverse, yet it's not diverse at the same time. There's a disproportionate amount of certain races compared to others.
