With Common Sense, Not a Problem
As long as you're smart about when and where you're walking, safety isn't a problem. Though there have been reports of attempted sexual assaults on and around campus, this has only happened to women walking around alone in dark areas late at night. If you use common sense, safety isn't a problem. Most of the time, there's people out and about all over campus, especially on weekend nights.

Could Be Better
There are on-campus parties every Thursday-Saturday hosted by fraternities or special-interest houses, but the local nightlife scene off campus is basically restricted to those that are 21 or older. There are pretty regular events in Boston proper or at other schools in or around the city for those in between the ages of 18-21, but sometimes getting back from these events can be a hassle.
