Lots of Options
There is tons of off-campus housing within a few blocks of campus. Quite a few off-campus houses are closer to classrooms than several of the dorms. Rent is not a whole lot cheaper than living on campus in the dorms but you save a TON of money on food not having to be on the meal plan. The cheapest houses go fast so its not common for groups of people to start securing houses a year or more before they plan to move in.

Always Construction on Campus
In the seven semesters I've been here, there has always been at least one building under construction. In the last few years, we've gotten a new athletic center, art building, theatre, and several of the academic building have been remodeled. The dorms are the least up-to date buildings on campus but they are still pretty good.

Trying to Become More Diverse but Still Work to Do...
The college is really putting an emphasis on improving diversity and they have done a great job bringing in a lot of international students. However, with some exceptions, the international students seem to form cliques really easily and they don't integrate with the rest of the student body very much. Also, the majority of Whitties come from relatively affluent backgrounds and it can be frustrating to explain to people why you have to work 20+ hrs/week in order to pay for college.
