If It Weren't for Baylor, Waco Wouldn't Exist.
If it weren't for Baylor, all Waco would be is a place to get gas between Austin and Dallas. There is very little here beyond the university. Waco really only has two attractions besides Baylor: Cameron Park (and the associated zoo) and the Dr Pepper Museum. Despite the lack of other attractions, these two definitely make Waco worth a visit. Cameron Park is absolutely beautiful, and the Dr Pepper Museum is lots of fun.

Baylor Has Excellent Academic Programs.
Baylor has some excellent programs, particularly in the liberal arts area. Their Honors College has four programs suited for the various types of learners that come to Baylor. The Honors Program offers the traditional honors experience. The Baylor Interdisciplinary Core allows students to become well versed in all the core subject areas. The Great Texts Program gives students a holistic approach to academics by reading some of the greatest writings in history. Finally, the University Scholars program allows students to bypass traditional degree requirements and focus intently on the field they want to work in.

I Love School.
I love being at Baylor. There are a few draw backs, such as the constant noise from the highway, but it'd definitely a wonderful school. I am able to have fun and learn at the same time.

Better Than I Expected
The facilities at Baylor University are better than I expected. The Student Life Center is state of the art and has the tallest free-standing rock climbing wall in Texas. The campus is very beautiful and has many lovely trees. The library has a pretty decent occult section, which was a pleasant surprise. The main draw-back is that most of the dining halls are closed on the weekends.

Not Enough Guys
There are not enough guys at Baylor. We have two guys for every three girls. The male population is pretty homogeneous. Nearly all of them are good Baptist boys. They dress "normally," have "normal" hair cuts, and like sports. Much the same could be said of the girls. They follow the fashion trends, and do other typical girl things. Quite a few of them only come to Baylor to find a husband. What both guys and girls seem to have in common is that they will not date non-Christians. There is very little diversity.

What Drug Scene?
If Baylor has a drug scene, I don't know about it. Baylor has a very strict policy on drugs and alcohol, and they are serious about enforcing it. Students who do drink and use drugs do so off campus.

University Scholars
I'm in a very selective program called University Scholars. It basically lets me design my own degree. I enjoy it, but it's a lot of work. I have to maintain a 3.5 GPA, do an independent reading list, and write a thesis, on top of all my regular course work. But this program is perfect for me. I love it!

Not Much Available
There's not much available off campus, unless you have a car. There's a Pizza Hut right next to campus that's pretty good. Common Grounds (the local coffee shop) is amazing. Other than that, there's not really anything within walking distance.

Brooks College Is Awesome
I have lived in Brooks College, and plan to continue to do so until I graduate. I love it! The building is very nice, but what I really love is the community. Living there is like being part of a family. It's definitely the best place to live on campus!

Diversity: None
Baylor is not diverse. It is made up of predominantly rich, white Baptists. There is still quite a bit of racial tension, as evidenced by the noose that was found on campus during the 2008 presidential election. Students who are not Christian probably would be better off not coming here. Everything here is infused with Christianity, to the point that most people won't even acknowledge that other perspectives even exist. There is also quite a bit of discrimination based on sexual orientation. While the university won't kick you out, you can easily lose a lot of friends if it's known that you're not straight, monogamous, and vanilla.
