Drug Safety at Washington University in St. Louis

A+

Available but No Pressure

It depends on the social circle one hangs out in, but if you want to avoid drugs that certainly is no problem. If you are looking for softer drugs like weed or adderall you can find them.

Weather at Washington University in St. Louis

A-

Not Bad at All

Coming from a very warm climate I was anticipating disliking the winters in St. Louis. This was not the case. I loved the seasons, and the winters were hardly bad. There were a few very cold days, but layer up and it's manageable.

Overall Experience at Washington University in St. Louis

A+

I Wouldn't Want to Be Anywhere Else

I love it here. The people are driven, approachable, friendly, and the most wonderful assortment of people I could ever imagine. Classes and teachers are great. The food is fantastic (I miss it when I'm home) and dorms are luxurious. The administration cares about the students. Social life is vibrant and fun but not overwhelming.

Off-Campus Housing at Washington University in St. Louis

A+

Close to Campus and Nice

There are great apartments very close to campus. Many Juniors and Seniors live there and really have a close-knit group of Wash U students off campus.

Generally Good-Looking People

Wash U is no state school, but the students are relatively good looking on average. Very few people are overweight.

Health & Safety at Washington University in St. Louis

A+

Campus Is Very Safe

St. Louis has a bad reputation but from what I have seen it's undeserved. Wash U itself is in a wealthy suburb, and I have always felt completely safe.

Nightlife at Washington University in St. Louis

A+

St. Louis Has a Lot of Options

Frat parties are great for Freshman and Sophomores. As students get older, they tend to go off campus more. Bars and clubs are great in St. Louis, and there are places that are pretty lenient on IDs.

A+

The Quality of Life

Students at Wash U have it all-restaurant style dining, dorms like ski-lodges, fantastic gothic architecture. People are just ahppy here, and their happiness is reflected in their positive, fun-loving attitudes.

Academics at Washington University in St. Louis

A+

World Class Faculty That's Actually Approachable

Academics are one of the universities greatest strengths. Nobel Prize winning professors are numerous. Teachers want to get to know you. Classes are difficult but stimulating, and peers are engaged but not stuck-up.

Campus Housing at Washington University in St. Louis

A+

Dorms Are Like Ski-Lodges

Tempur-pedic style mattresses, huge flat-screen TVs, leather couches, huge rooms and common areas. It doesn't get better than this.

Transportation at Washington University in St. Louis

A+

Free Metro-Link

There is very nice, relatively new Metro-Link right next to campus. While most people have to pay $2 a trip, Wash U provides its students with free passes. It takes you to the nicest areas in St. Louis.

Local Atmosphere at Washington University in St. Louis

A+

The Loop Is Great!

A ten-minute walk from campus is the Loop, which is an area with great restaurants (including Obama's favorite pizza at Pi-which is amazing), cool stores, venues that host concerts, and other great places. The Central West End is also a great area, and it's a short trip on the metro.

Great Variety and Good Food

Even though Wash U's on campus food is gourmet, off-campus food is also great. You can get Sushi, Indian, Thai, Pizza, Chinese, Burgers, and much more (including Ethiopian!) within a short walk from campus.

Athletics at Washington University in St. Louis

B

A Good D3 School, but We're No State School

We have a top D3 athletics program, but students aren't into attending games as I would like. Basketball games are fun though, since it is the one sport that is very well attended.

Facilities at Washington University in St. Louis

A+

Always Being Updated

The administration is very amenable to student's requests. If students complain about the weight room, we get new machines and equipment. Because of this, I have no complaints.

Greek Life at Washington University in St. Louis

A+

Greek Scene Is Large but Not Necessary

Sig Ep, Sigma Chi, and AEPi are the most social fraternities. Sig Ep and Sigma Chi have a good amount of athletes and cool guys. AEPi is almost all jewish and has chill guys. Sig Ep and AEPi throw great parties. ZBT and Sammy are off-campus, and considered sketchy. Kappa Sig throws lots of parties but the brothers are kind of tools. SAE just got their house back and have a smaller number of brothers. Sig Nu and Beta are pretty nerdy but nice guys. TKE is the engineering frat and Theta Xi is widely unknown.

As for sororities, Kappa (KKG), Pi Phi, and Alpha Phi are considered the most social. KKGs are fun-loving, Pi Phi's are partiers, and Alpha Phi's are kind of an in-between KKG and Pi Phi. No sororities have houses but they are still pretty tight-knit. Chi-O has a lot of athletes, AEPhi is pretty jewish, DG is hard to categorize, and AOPi is new and is not really well known.

Good Parking Options

Parking at Wash U is pretty easy to find, but if you park on the street, beware-WUPD (Wash U police) is quick to hand out tickets for parking in no-parking zones.
