Disconnect Between Town and College
Washington, PA is a great place to live. However, the town doesn't seem to acknowledge the college and the students don't take advantage of what the town offers. You have your run-of-the-mill stores and restaurants, but the town can offer a lot, too. There are plenty of local restaurants and shops (Shorty's and Popcorn Willy's are great), along with a variety of museums (David Bradford House, Lemoyne House, PA Trolley Museum). There is also a local baseball team to go watch (Washington WildThings). The relationship between W&J and Washington isn't very good and the two groups don't mix very often. W&J used to take its Homecoming parage through town, which was a draw for locals, but the practice ended sometime around 2006.

Great Teams, No School Spirit
The athletic teams at W&J are outstanding and typically do very well in the PAC. However, the students (except the cheerleaders) don't care about cheering on the teams at sporting events, which is embarrassing when another school (like Waynesburg) brings more fans to W&J. Students are more likely to follow professional or Division I teams than W&J's teams. The facilities are all very nice. Students seem to really enjoy intramural sports.

They Try to Help
I didn't have problems applying for financial aid, and I did receive a scholarship. My only complaint was with some qualifications with Federal Work Study and the availability of on-campus jobs.

Some Options
You have a few options for nightlife at W&J. If you don't want to drink, you can hang out at Monticello's, head into Pittsburgh, go see a movie at a local theater, etc. For those who want to drink, you can go to the fraternities, go to a bar in town, drink in your room with friends, go into Pittsburgh, or a combination of any of these options. The fraternities are generally laid-back and welcoming and some of the themed parties can be a lot of fun. Parties used to be more fun back when the Greeks were in the Quads and fraternities could have large "registered parties" in their very own party rooms. Those were the good ol' days.
