Facilities at Whitman College

A+

The Facilities at Whitman Are Great

The facilities on campus are all modern, well equipped, and built to be enjoyed by students and faculty alike. Thus, the facilities are great gathering places for socializing (every where), getting work done (the library, but there are also many other great work spaces such as the Glover Alston Center which is a house with a beautiful kitchen and many great places to do work), exercising or playing an intramural sport, or relaxing (in a sauna perhaps). All of the facilities are beautiful, high-functioning, and great resources to have on campus!

Greek Life at Whitman College

B

Greeks and Indies Interming All the Time

At Whitman, Greek life is entirely optional and very non-exclusive. By optional, I mean that whether or not you choose to be Greek-affiliated, you will still be welcome at Frat and Sorority parties and at non-affiliated parties; this is the same within social circles. All students live in first-year residents halls, which is primarily where friends are made, thus Greek organizations exist as more of an extra-curricular than a way of life. The Greek system is a fun way to be involved in philanthropy and socializing with a great group of people but there are absolutely amazing options if you choose not to be Greek as well. And, finally, if money is your hurdle all Greek organizations on campus have honorary members who are chosen by the organization and participate in the fraternity or sorority for free.

Transportation at Whitman College

A-

Walla Walla Is a Small Town, So...

Most places can be biked to but there are also great bus systems and students are very generous about lending their cars. In terms of going home for breaks, students often carpool to airports that will give them the best flight price. Some students will spend the night at a friends home in Portland or Seattle and fly out of those airports, but Walla Walla also offers flights to Seattle and Pasco, Tri-Cities airport, offers many flights and is only a 50 minute drive away from campus. The school also offers bus transportation to Seattle and Portland over breaks.
