Communities Are Diverse
Despite what a lot of people say Dickinson is a great community because it's the most social and feels like it's own part of campus. Newing is also very social, but has a lot of frat activity. As for the suite style communities, Mountainview is very sheltered from the rest of the rest of campus and Hinman, even though it is perfectly located and has an open area can be pretty stinky.

Meh.
It's not terrible. Downtown Binghamton can be a lot of fun at night. Frat parties are fun and open, but attract a lot of underclassmen. The bars on State street are always crowded on the weekends but almost entirely with students, but still beware of creepy townies. If you go out a lot you will always find someone you know, but the usual spots will get old quickly.

Not Noticeable, but There.
At any school there are students who use drugs. For those that do they will find them, but those that don't will always find a circle of friends who stay away particularly if you choose the chem free option for dorms.
