Scholarships

Hey guys, I come from an upper middle class family, have a 29 ACT(probably will go up a point or 2), 4.0 gpa, and will have taken 7 AP's by the time I graduate. Also, I have done some volunteering, have played football for 3 years, and am involved in about 3 clubs. I was wondering how much money people received for scholarships(assuming i get accepted) at the school tagged above that had similar stats as me. Thanks!

Depending on what you apply for you can receive a very good amount of money. It is really all about taking the time you find and apply for scholarships.

If you're willing to spend the time searching for them online, there's an overwhelming amount of scholarships available. Many of them are simple and require an essay or sometimes even less.

I think that you will get accepted but FSU doesn't give out that many scholarships from the school to in state student with an average involvement unless they have an over 4.0 GPA and are close to the top ten! But there are lots of ways to get money :)

You will get soo much money as a reward for your hard work and dedication, apply!

I took the SAT and received a 1730 then had similar stats to yours and I unfortunately did not receive many scholarships from Purdue University, the main campus. It all depends on what they are looking for I guess at the time and what your major may be.

I would estimate between $15,00-@20,000

Depending on your major you could get an alumni scholarship. If you are out of state they may try to help you with another one. Other than that Purdue's scholarships are pretty scarce even when you are a well rounded student.

If you're an in-state student, you'll probably get around 10,000 at least. I'm an out of state student who had a much better application (No offense) and I didn't get a single penny.

If you're in state, you shouldn't have a hard time covering the cost of college. HOPE will cover tuition, and you sound like you're in good shape to receive the Pell Grant (if you're in need) or the Zell B Miller scholarship!

You'd get the HOPE Scholarship. 100% of the amount which is roughly about $3500 or so. There are sometimes scholarships from the school but the school would ask you if you want it, first.

You are DEFINITELY well above average for the University of Georgia! You will get in with ease! I think that you could get an academic scholarship for sure!

It all depends on how much money your family currently makes.

Act scores?

Does Ohio State care if your act score has improved from a 23 to a 29 for example, or does it just matter what your final score is?

It just matters what your final score is.

Some colleges ask for all your scores so if they see that improvement it could look like you really tried hard and impress them cuz a 6 point jump is rare . Still only send in the 23 if you have to

I believe they just take your best score and look at that when deciding to accept you.

Just look at the final score. You send your best scores to Ohio State, and that's all they look at. I got in just fine (on scholarship!) and I tanked my first ACT. My final was a 28. You'll be more than fine.

I am pretty sure OSU takes you're highest ACT but you should be able to email someone in the Admissions department and they can give you an exact answer about this. As far as improvement goes, I don't think it matters they just look at the final score.

Act scores?

Does UCF care if your act score has improved from a 23 to a 29 for example, or does it just matter what your final score is?

As far as ACT scores, your final is taken into consideration but they do care if they see you made the attempt to get a better score.

To be honest, I really don't know. My ACT score was a 21 and I was still accepted. I feel like they would only be interested in the final score.

Colleges definitely care if your test scores improve because it shows you see something you can improve on and you do!

It's great if you can improve your scores, but in the end they only care about the fnal score.

not applicable to me

Final score is all that matters

Ucf does care if your act score improves because it shows progress.

Normally, UCF will just look at your final score.

Yes, they care. It looks good that your score improves and shows that you are hard working and serious about working hard.

I would think they only care about the final score because the Admissions office doesn't have time to look at your improvement or see how it happened. The 30 seconds they spend on you will be for the nitty gritty details.

I'm sure that they like to see the improvement but overall I think the final score is the one they really look at and make their decision by.

It just matters what your final score is. They have so many incoming admissions they wouldn't have time to check every students improvement.

Final scores are really the only thing any college looks at. However, that jump is impressive.

I think most universities only care about your highest score.

It will always help for you to have higher ACT scores, though I can't tell you exactly how much they care.

I personally did better on my ACT and went from being defer to accepted due to this change. SO do well on all your placement tests.

I believe it just matters what your highest score is.

If you get a better score send them a new transcript right away!! Yes they care.

For both the ACT and the SAT, the highest score is taken. Be sure to send them all scores to give yourself the best chance possible.

yes it does anything that can show progress is always good

The highest academic score is the one that is taken into account for admissions

The highest academic score is the one that is taken into account for admissions so the actual change is more personally beneficial than anything else

Usually USF will identify that you improved in your score, but a person only needs only one score to be qualified to apply as a student. Two score are not needed, so they may not care.

Admissions almost never looks at your improvement, they are focused on the highest grade you achieved. If your highest was a 29 then they'll look at that without referring to the 23.

I'm pretty sure that they just look at your best score.

Safe ACT score for UW-Madison

What do you think is a relatively safe Act score for getting accepted into Wisconsin? (Im out of state and have a high gpa).

The general range for ACT scores (25th to 75th percentile of enrolled freshmen) is 26 to 30. The critical reading range is 25 to 31, math 26 to 31, and writing 8 to 9.

If you've already taken the test, you can check out "My Chances" against other applicants here.

I've heard anything from a 25 to the thirties have a pretty decent shot at acceptance, especially with a high GPA. Good Luck!

28

A safe ACT score would be 28. However, this is on the safe side. I think it would be easily doable to get accepted with as low as a 25 with a high gpa and extracurricular activities.
