Greek Life Is the Nightlife

There are no bars/clubs in Lexington. 100% of the nightlife is house parties thrown by fraternities. However, they are always open to everyone and everyone feels welcome no matter who's house it is. Many nights, the whole school will go to the same house or group of houses and have one of the many annual parties that people look forward to each year. The party scene at W&L is very crazy and unique, and friends from other school are always amazed by the social scene. It is a lot more fun to be at a house with everyone from our school than at a bar with a few friends paying money all night. Alcohol is always free at our school thanks to the inedibly high frat dues. There is always a ride to a from the party because fraternities provide rides to freshmen and the Traveller bus system takes students around to all the popular off-campus places on party nights.

Honor System

The honor system creates a very trusting environment that honestly affects every aspect of life on campus. It is awesome! Also, our school has a small population and you get to know just about everyone. If you don't know someone, you will acknowledge them and say hi anyway because of the speaking tradition. You have to visit campus to understand this - it's very unique. Parties are a fun place to meet people, but don't be fooled, I would say only about 80% of people are drinking when they're out - those who are drinking drink very heavily though. Academically the school is very challenging, but professors take a personal interest in students and they will always help you. Classes are very diverse and you get to take just about whatever you want and still have plenty of time to finish a major or two.
