Campus Housing at University of Tennessee

Living on Campus

Living on campus wasn't that bad, at all. Going into it I was expecting a lot worse. However, I ended up with an awesome roommate, which made it that much better. The dorm that I lived in was very secure. You had to swipe your UT id to enter the building, the lobbies, and the elevators. Also, girls could only swipe to girls floors and boys to boys. It was very secluded, and someone was working the desk 24/7. The worst part was the community bathrooms. Sometimes, the cleaning lady would have it closed for hours at a time, and you would have to go all the way to the other side of the building to shower, use the restroom, or even brush your teeth. It was nice that the dorms weren't too expensive and covered by my financial aid. Also, I liked how everyone on my floor got along. We all hung out and spoke to each other everytime we saw each other. It was almost like we were a family. It was like that just about everyone in my dorm though, even the guys. We all took trips to iHop and to the cafeterias and we had about a weekly game of volleyball outside.with Overall, the only thing that I didn't like about dorms were the community bathrooms, everything else was fine.

Campus Strictness at University of Tennessee

A-

Campus Strictness

UT is a dry, drugfree campus, and UTPD are everywhere. Literally. They do dorm checks every night, they're always driving up & down the strip, they visit iHop every now and then to make sure nothing gets completely out of hand. Also, every dorm does hall walks checking to make sure no one is sick or drinking. If you get caught drinking in your dorm, you have to have a meeting with the hall director, which could result in a trip to judicial affairs. Overall, UT is pretty strict about drinking and drug use.

Weather at University of Tennessee

C-

Weather at UT

The weather at UT is so bipolar. One day its 80 degrees and the next its 40 and snowing. At UT you always have to be prepared for the best and the worst. You never know how its going to be. Also, don't ever not get up to get ready for class because you think it will be cancelled, because chances are, you're still having class. Get used to it. Teachers rarely cancel for weather. We had tornado warnings last semester, and we still had class.
