Bring Your Own Computer, Don't Need a Printer
Having computer access on campus is extremely important and I would advise all incoming students to bring their own personal computer. There are several computers on campus available if you do not have your own, but having a lap top makes life much more convenient (taking notes in class, being able to work other places besides the library, always having a computer available, etc.) If you're experiencing trouble with your computer, you can take it to computer services where they are extremely helpful and friendly. A printer, however, is not necessary. There are several accessible printing stations all around campus, so you can print nearly anywhere at anytime (like on the way to class after grabbing breakfast in one of the dining halls). The school even provides you with a printing account, so I would say owning your own printer is pretty unnecessary. Finally, wireless access on campus is fantastic. As with any network, it occasionally experiences a few glitches, but the problem never lasts long.

Great Professors, Smaller Classes
Since Dartmouth College has a pretty small student population, classes are pretty small. Even lecture classes are smaller than most at other schools. This allows for more student/professor interaction, so you're really involved in making the most of your own education. The workload is pretty heavy, but shouldn't be unmanageable if you learn good time management skills.

Freshmen Trips = AWESOME
When the freshmen first arrive on campus, almost ever single one participates in a freshman trip. These include backpacking, hiking, biking, kayaking, cabin camping, organic farming, nature photography, rock climbing, and many other types of trips. This was a great way to meet people before starting classes and trips were pretty small, so you really create a sense of family with your trip mates and trip leaders. The people I met on my trip are still my best friends on campus. Also, the energy that comes from the upperclassmen when you first arrive on campus is outstanding; instead of hazing or the stereotypical hostility directed at freshmen, freshmen are greeted by excitement from all the other students for them to join the Dartmouth community.
