Know the Right Places
Philadelphia has a lot to offer in terms of history and a rich cultural atmosphere. Many parts have a strong "inner city" feel to it and don't have much to offer. If you go to the right places you will have a blast.

Housing Is Important
Try to live closer to campus. I would live closer to campus for sure. The winters are crazy cold and there are some unsavory types walking around late at night. U of Penn is pretty unique due the age of the campus. Its the first "university" in the united states. If you like Ben Franklin, this is the campus and city for you.

I don't know how to put it differently but you definitely feel like a part of the school when you go here.
