Should I do late summer honors or the leadership conference at Aspen Grove?

I have had friends who have done the honors program at Aspen Grove and they all loved it. It allows you to network with people at BYU and have the "in" with people who can make your progression at BYU easier. It isnt a must but a definite bonus.

themiah: I'm deciding between two different programs. Late Summer Honors OR the leadership program at Aspen Grove (FOL).

Definitely do FOL!! It is awesome! And it gives you a head start to meeting new people at BYU and you make life long friends :)

Yeah that will look good on any application or resume, and you will make friends

I ultimately decided not to, largely for financial reasons. I don't feel that the lack of it hindered me from making friends and finding helpful people during New Student Orientation with everyone else.

I would do the leadership conference at Aspen Grove if I were you. I went to it and really enjoyed myself.

New or old Heritage?

New Heritage. It is super nice and very spacious. The kitchen is huge and the living room space is good for having friends over and such.

should Freshman stay in campus or try for off-campus housing?

As far as I know, freshmen are required to live on campus.

I am in old heritage and I love it. The people in new heritage don't even know all the people are their own floor. But there is no arguing that new heritage is way nice.

New. New is just a lot nicer and worth the extra money.

Hale 3 or Hale 5?

Doesn't matter their tearing them down and building new ones as we speak, if your in Hale 5 you get moved to the new dorms earlier.

Brigham Young University - Hawaii Local Atmosphere had a new discussion posted by yethban

I've been accepted to all three BYUs. I'm torn between Hawaii and Provo and not sure which one to go to.

The fact that I even got into BYU-H is amazing because I'm a white girl from Virginia, but I have a lot of family in UT that I don't get to see a lot.

BYU-H has a lot of cultural diversity (which I love), but Provo has Cougar football, J-Dogs, SubZero, Divine Comedy, and the opportunity to attend conference live in person.

BYU-H has smaller class sizes and it's easier to get to know the teachers, but BYU has been my dream school since I was little. When I applied to Hawaii, I wasn't really expecting to get in. In fact, I had never even seriously considered it until I was accepted.

I just don't know what to do.

The academics are a little low at BYUH, so I would say to go to BYU Provo, I am transferring there.

If BYU is your dream school, that is where you should go. BYUH is my dream school, and that's where I'm going.

Listen to what God wants you to do

Whichever you choose, don't regret it. If you can handle homesickness, I will suggest to go Hawaii, since its super fun being here.

I love BYU-Hawaii. The campus is beautiful, the teachers are great. If you like small class size, beautiful weather and aren't much of a party animal then this is for you.

Make a pro-con list and then pray about it :)

I'm at BYU provo and I love it. I also know quite a few people who went to Hawaii, and they loved it. It really depends on what you want to study, but I don't think you can go wrong either way.

I've only attended BYU in Provo. But if you've been accepted into both, I say go to BYU-H and do your generals, and then transfer to Provo - get the experience of both!

BYU Provo is so amazing. It isn't just going to school, it is an experience!

Maybe go to BYU, then take a semester at Hawaii and decide if you want to transfer?

Consider your major or career path. The schools have different program strengths.

I've never been to either of the other two, but BYU Provo is awesome. It might be cool to do a semester in Hawaii though. My friend did that and I plan on trying to get over there for a semester just to do GEs and have fun. Something to think about.
