Good Options, Overpriced, Cafeterias Weak
For dining halls, you'll have about a buffet of mediocre food everyday, more or less. If you go to Woodruff, then it will be a bit more of a selection than East Campus' Brittain, but same quality overall, which gets old after a year or so. They just put a Taco Bell and Subway in the student center, to add to the Chick-Fil-A and Pizza Hut already there, and they are probably the best places to go to eat on campus because of their central location. The prices are a little jacked up which is a bit of a disappointment, but I guess you can't ask for much more. If you really want the good food, you may want to venture to Tech Square and check out Moe's, Ray's, or Tin Drum, probably the best restaurants on campus, along with the newly added Waffle House (the cleanest one ever).

Home Park Is Where It's at
Pros: Home Park provides some of the cheapest housing in the city, and you're within walking distance to the campus, which is great, and saves money on gas, which you'll likely need to get to concerts and other events across town, so that's definitely a plus. There's markets and food places all around you that you can walk to, and if you walk around on the weekends you can probably stumble upon a house party, where most people are welcome to folks in the neighborhood just dropping by to have some fun (in this sense it's almost like a second campus for socialites).
CONS: Recently there have been complaints about armed robberies in the area, but as long as you're not walking down dark streets completely drunk, and are aware of your surroundings, you'll be fine. I've never had a problem in all my 3 years living there. These complaints also are a bit of a plus, as the area is underrented now, and you can find (and haggle) a very cheap price for a house now.

Unique, Unique, Unique
At GT you'll have a unique experience no matter what. The level of education is top-tier, and they make sure to remind you with grueling courses that keep you pretty busy depending on your major. The social life is pretty funny, but something you'll get used to. There's basically three categories: you can chill out in the dorms, have a few drinks with some close friends (if your RA is chill, that's a big IF sometimes). Then you can go to parties in fraternities (don't get too bummed when people are lame about you drinking, and then hand your female friend a free cup of hunch punch) or off campus in Home Park (where all wildness is available, and the parties don't stop till 4:20 in the mornin'). Finally, you're living in Atlanta! Wake up and get away from the same ol' same ol'! Go check out some local music at The 5 Spot or The Earl, or just go urban exploring with some friends to the different parts of the city. It's a big city with lots to see, so don't get stuck in the mentality that you've seen it all, when you're still sitting on your dorm room couch watching NetFlix.
Some cool things about Georgia Tech academically is the openness about research and study abroad. I did both, and they are really encouraging students to do so, and they really offer opportunities to research in really interesting areas and study ALL across the world. You can check out all the options from the OIE website within the gatech.edu site to see just where you can go. Studying abroad is great for out-of-state students as you get to pay in state tuition which is about 1/4 of the price, so go for it, and have a time you'll never forget.
I guess I do have to mention the people at Tech can be entertainment in themselves. You'll see and overhear some hilarious things whether it's about WOW strategies or nuclear physics, and if you remember how you'll never get to hear that again, soak it all in and remember there's real girls on the outside (haha, just kidding).
