Just to point out: Each of the five major frats and sororities have around 50 members, which means that at least 250 people are Greek. At a school of 1,800 undergrads, that's a decent percentage. The Greek community is definitely here to stay, and it does have a big presence on campus. If it were gone, it is likely that everyone would be on here complaining that there were no fun parties, philanthropy events, and barbecues.

If you are a transfer student, and they put you in Stearns, run away screaming! No, but seriously, make them move you. I had a horrible experience there as a transfer in a single room on a floor of transfers in the most anti-social dorm on campus. Not fun for a student who knows no one.

It is kind of like high school, especially when you hook up with someone, and then randomly notice that they are in your bio class with only 15 other people as a social buffer.

There are some cool bars around...
There are some cool bars around the neighborhood, like York, The Chalet, and Italiano's, a restaurant/bar that people love. And, the great thing about living in LA is that you can venture outside the neighborhood and check out the rest of the city! Clubs are fine for the over-21 crowd, but in LA they are too expensive and trendy. There are plenty of dive bars around Los Angeles that are really fun but don't offer the experience of being puked on by Lindsay Lohan.
