Small but Charming "Downtown"
At first glance there doesn't seem to be much to do in Kirksville- and this is true. But it's really a matter of who you know. There are concerts, both on-campus and off, interesting restaurants, several parks, and all within walking distance. If you'd like to venture further, there is always Walmart at 3AM, Thousand Hills state park, or Baltimore Street, for more mainstream fare. Overall, not a bad place.

Academic Pride... Yeah, OK
Truman pretty much prides itself on being a school for smart kids. This is true. Do not debase the intelligence of that football guy or sorority girl- they probably get better grades than you. As a pre-education math major, the classes aren't bad, and neither are the professors. You will probably find yourself taking 5 or 6 classes a semester. When I went into this major, I was told that Truman has a job placement (for my major and profession) of 100%. Let's hope that holds.

Math, OK. Education, a Little Harder.
Taking a math degree is like any other degree- you sign up. However, you do have to keep up your grades. Most classes build upon each other, and you must receive a C or higher to get credit and advance. The education program is a little different. You apply, and based on your grades you may be rejected. If you intend to be a secondary/high school teacher, you must complete a bachelor's in your intended subject area, then apply for the one year masters degree program.
