UVM's Academics Are Underrated
As a science major and member of UVM's Honors College, I have found many UVM courses to be academically stimulating. Most professors are truly passionate about the material they teach and are willing to share their wealth of knowledge with students. From chemistry to political science, UVM is host to some brilliant, experienced professors who are very well-regarded in their fields.

No Wireless in the Dorms...
As a first-time, first-year student, I was SHOCKED that there was no wifi in the residence halls (except for lounges!). However, super-fast wired ethernet is available in every dorm room, and the rest of campus is outfitted with wifi. Computer labs are all over the place and are rarely busy because most people use their own laptop. For your own convenience, I would recommend investing in a printer, because it will make your life easier.

Ehh...Diversity, What's That?
Like Vermont, UVM is, like, 90 something percent white. It doesn't seem to bother many students, who came from high schools with similar demographics. However, there are certainly are a number of minority students around campus, and there are also lots of campus-sponsored groups and programs to ensure that minority students feel welcomed into the UVM community.

Quite Safe
I've rarely felt unsafe on campus. Burlington is a relatively safe city, and there are blue-light emergency telephones ALL over the place. You can also call police services for an escort if you're scared. In general, it's probably not a great idea to be a female roaming around the campus in the middle of the night, but other than that, I'd say UVM is about as safe as it gets.
