Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

To some, Valencia is an opportunity to grow academically, but to others it’s a place to relax and explore the academic world without any pressure from fellow classmates and professors. Valencia Community College is open to the overachievers and to the slackers. Most students remain at Valencia well beyond the two years required to complete the associate degree.

Valencia Community College is a small academic community that takes great pride in its students. It has well over 100 clubs and extracurricular activities. Many nationalities and ethnic groups are represented on campus. Furthermore, Valencia spares no expense; the school brings in speakers, philanthropists, and experts in various fields year-round to discuss various topics with students.

For those who are concerned about their environment, the school has great security on campus. Police are present, aware, and ready to help. Valencia will help you every step of the way, from enrollment to graduation and beyond. On any given day, you will hear of and see alums walking the many Valencia campuses, talking to current students about life beyond college. Valencia is truly a great place to start.

College Is Involved in the Student Experience

All areas of the college are involved with helping students find their career path, do well in classes and get involved in school. There is many clubs and activities and many offices that hold workshops or other events to inform students about job opportunities, classes, majors, study abroad programs and financial aid. Professors here want the student not only to get material from textbooks, but they also want to teach through digital media, clips, power points, group projects and discussions. Professor want the student to be engaged in discussions and want the student to see what it is really like to work in the different career fields.

Being a Nonresident Is Expensive and a Hassle

I am being charged 3 times the tuition than if I was a resident. Because I wanted a better life for myself than living in Alaska, I sold everything and moved to Florida (with my 4 children) with the intent that I would be able to transfer without any major hiccups. That has not been the case, however. My old school took 5 weeks to send my transcript, then the new school took 3 weeks to review and input my credits from my transcript. Thus resulting in me missing deadlines, stressing out, crying, not sleeping well, the list goes on with my frustrations. So I am enrolled finally but my tuition and fees is outrageous because I have not lived in this state for one year.
